Tammra Cascio, an attorney with the firm of Heidelberg Steinberger, P.A., has been named as Chair of the Mississippi Volunteer Lawyers Project.

MVLP helps families with civil legal matters, such as guardianships, conservatorships, adoptions, name changes and other legal services. The organization also hosts legal clinics throughout the state connecting attorneys with those who need their services. Cascio has been involved with MVLP since 2014, previously serving as co-chair of fundraising and also serving as a board member.

“I feel strongly that MVLP fills a critical and essential gap between those who qualify for legal services and those who actually can afford legal representation,” said Cascio. “MVLP is one of the flagship programs in the country that connects volunteer attorneys with those who have nowhere else to turn.”

Cascio, who works in Heidelberg Steinberger’s Jackson office, is involved in other aspects of the legal community. She currently serves as Chair of the Business Law Section of the Mississippi Bar Association and on the Advisory Board of the Ole Miss School of Risk Management and Insurance. The Mississippi Bar Association also has honored her with the Distinguished Service Award and the Woman Lawyer Trailblazer Award.

Through her work with MVLP, Casio believes she and other volunteer attorneys are helping MVLP strengthen communities and allowing families and individuals to move forward.
