The Mississippi Bar Association is the organization of which all Mississippi licensed attorneys are members. The Bar publishes The Mississippi Lawyer on a quarterly basis. It includes articles and information of interest to the members of the Bar. Karl Steinberger was recognized in the fall edition of the Mississippi Lawyer for an article he submitted entitled “The Value of the Mississippi Bar Foundation”. As past president of the Bar Foundation, Karl noted many members of the Bar and the public are unaware of the existence and functions of the Mississippi Bar Foundation.  The article relates the history of the Foundation, which was formed in 1963, to improve and facilitate the administration of justice. It recognizes the present leaders and members of the Board of Trustees and explains the Foundation is the owner of the Mississippi Bar Center and is the depository of funds for other organizations of the Bar. The Foundation sponsors several programs and gives awards in recognition of exemplary service by members of the Bar. The Foundation awards grants to various organizations for the purpose of providing legal services to citizens of the State of Mississippi who otherwise may not receive proper legal representation.  The Foundation also sponsors a program for the benefit of attorneys who may be in need of financial assistance for legitimate purposes.
