Heidelberg Steinberger congratulates former firm member, Cory Wilson, on his confirmation to serve as a Judge on the U.S. 5th Circuit Court of Appeals. Judge Wilson is a native of Moss Point who obtained his Undergraduate Degree from the University of Mississippi with Highest Distinction and a Law Degree from Yale University. He served as a White House intern to Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld after receiving his Law Degree.

During his tenure with the firm he opened the law firm’s Jackson, Mississippi office. Judge Wilson served as an aide to now Lt. Gov. Delbert Hosemann while he was Secretary of State and to Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch while she served as Mississippi State Treasurer.

Judge Wilson was then elected to the Mississippi House of Representatives and served there until Gov. Phil Bryant appointed him to the Mississippi Court of Appeals in 2019.

Both U.S. Senators Roger Wicker and Cindy Hyde-Smith nominated Judge Wilson for the judgeship on the 5th Circuit and he received a “well qualified” rating from the American Bar Association. Judge Wilson was confirmed to the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals by the U.S. Senate on June 24, 2020.

We congratulate Judge Wilson on his appointment and look forward to him continuing his longstanding commitment to public service in this office.

Judge Wilson is the latest public servant who at one time was a member of the firm. Other former firm lawyers in public service include Mississippi Court of Appeals Judge Anthony “Tony” Lawrence, Mississippi State Senator Brice Wiggins, Mississippi State Senator Briggs Hopson,
Mississippi Secretary of State Michael Watson and Mississippi State Representative Joey Hood.

We congratulate all these outstanding public servants who practiced at our firm for their commitment to making our state and country a better place.
